The preparations for the organization of the “Cretan Diet Festival 2022”, an institution through which the local culture and products of the island are promoted, have begun.

This event is coming back dynamically this year, after two years of abstinence, due to the coronavirus pandemic, as highlighted today during a working meeting, held in the Regional Unit of Rethymnon, chaired by the Vice-Regional Governor of Rethymnon Maria Lioni. During the discussion on procedural issues (exhibitors, artistic program, etc.), it was decided that the culinary part of the events this year will be dedicated to Asia Minor Hellenism, due to the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe.

The organizers of the “Cretan Diet Festival” which takes place from 1 to 7 July by the region, the municipality and the Chamber of Rethymnon, refer to a successful institution for the whole of Crete, which on the one hand makes known the products and their nutritional value and on the other hand highlights the producers who struggle to maintain the island’s nutritional identity at a high level.

Many parallel informative and cultural events will take place in the framework of the festival.
